Shedding Breeds
When the hair is ready to shed on a shedding breed dog, it must be removed in some manner to stimulate new hair growth. That means that if you just clip the hair, you are hanging on to all that old dead hair underneath, only now it is trimmed, and will continue to shed. The old dead hair can continue to build up to a point where the skin can no longer breathe and can cause terrible skin problems. Furthermore, you will be cutting away healthy hair; this healthy hair protects them against all the elements and does not shed, matte, or hold dirt. However, if you remove this dead hair, new healthy, coarser hair will grow in its place; This process gives you an overall healthier, shinier, and coarser coat. This practice is called ‘Carding’. There are many grooming tools out there for this purpose. Carding is the healthiest, most beneficial way of removing coat on a shedding breed dog.

This shedding breed has had her body carded with the exception of her front legs, head and neck area.
